Melissa has a BA LLB degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. She also qualified in New York and was admitted to the New York Bar in February 2006. Melissa is a derivatives lawyer with more than 18 years of experience in the industry. She worked for JPMorgan Chase Bank in London for 8 years in their legal department primarily negotiating the ISDA®
GMRA and GMSLA Master Agreements. On returning to South Africa in 2007 Melissa founded DeriviDoc which specialises in legal consulting on derivatives and financial master agreements, as well as providing training services on the various financial master agreements and regulatory matters which impact the OTC Derivatives market.
Jamie MacDonald is a director in the Finance & Projects team at DLA Piper South Africa. He has experience advising on various types of financing transactions including secured lending, cross-border financing, project finance, syndicated lending, debt restructuring and hedging transactions. Jamie has advised on large accommodation, telecommunications and toll road projects as well as transactions in the power and energy (including renewable energy), mining and natural resources sectors.
Jamie is recognised by IFLR1000 as a leading lawyer within the field of Energy and Infrastructure, and is noted for being "a very talented and very smart lawyer" (2014 edition).
Ciska obtained a BA and a PGCE from Rhodes University, South Africa, after which she worked as a teacher in London and Nagoya, Japan. After moving to Cape Town, she shifted her focus to educational publishing, becoming Managing Editor for Business Studies titles at Oxford University Press (SA). Ciska subsequently launched the Johannesburg branch of My Life Organised, a lifestyle management company, offering support to entrepreneurs and small businesses. She has been Training Co-ordinator at DeriviDoc since 2011.
